Connor Tullis, Austin College, Men's Soccer - Character & Community

CONNOR TULLIS OF AUSTIN COLLEGE, a junior goalkeeper on the men's soccer team from Dallas, Texas, has been selected the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Character and Community Male Student Athlete of the Week for the week beginning January 24.

The SCAC Character & Community award honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.

Tullis has been active in community service since he was a high school student at Dallas Jesuit. In those days, he participated in events such as Manna for Others, in which he helped make breakfast on Saturday mornings for a local church, in addition to being a special needs tutor in the Richardson Independent School District.

After coming to Austin College as a goalie for the ‘Roo men’s soccer team, Tullis has continue to serve the community in a variety of ways, including being a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Within that role, he also serves as one of Austin College’s representatives with the conference SAAC.

Tullis has worked with his teammates to raise money for Susan G. Komen, organizing a Pink Out game while collecting funds to go toward breast cancer research. On top of that, Tullis helped organize an event at Austin College called Blocks for Bekah. That event consists of a volleyball tournament for members of the ‘Roo community, with each entry fee going to the family of former Austin College volleyball player Rebekah Bowden, who was killed in a car accident in 2018.

He also organized a Crawfish Boil to benefit St. Jude’s, which he runs through his fraternity with all funds going to St. Jude’s to help children with cancer. Tullis has also participated in an Adopt a Family program at Christmas, in which he’s helped to provide gifts to a local family in need for the holidays.
