LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Trinity University, with a
conference record 15 team championships during the 2012-13 academic
year, earned its second consecutive SCAC President's Trophy. It is
the program's 13th all-sports title - which also represents a
conference record.
The Texas Tigers punctuated their historic campaign with spring
sports victories in men's golf, baseball, men's and women's tennis
and men's and women's track & field.
Incredibly, Trinity won 15 of 19 conference championships this
season - a 78.9 winning percentage. The 15 championships in a
single academic year broke the previous record of 11, which Trinity
set in 2004-05, and the percentage of conference championships won
broke the previous mark of 71.4 percent established by Rose-Hulman
Institute of Technology in 1974-75 when the confernece was a
single-gender league and sponsored just seven sports. The highest
percentage of championships won in the SCAC co-ed era
(1991-forward) in a single academic year had been the 61.1 percent
(11-18) won by Trinity in 2004-05.
