SUWANEE, Ga. - Seven Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference baseball student-athletes were named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-District® Baseball teams, as selected and announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Hendrix College placed a league-high four student-athletes on the prestigious teams. Andrew Thames, a senior kinesiology major carried a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.55. Clark Sims, a senior chemistry major with a 3.54 GPA as well as Kyle Raskin and Collin Radack represented Hendrix.
Raskin, a senior economics/business major maintained a 3.47 GPA. Radack earned his way on the team while keeping a 3.76 GPA as a sophomore economics/business major.
The quartet was joined on the District 5 team by Birmingham-Southern College sophomore Miles Nordgren. Nordgren carried a 3.70 GPA as a biology major.
Trinity University's Nick Pappas as well as the University of Dallas' Nico Caluda were District 8 honorees. Pappas, a senior, was honored after carrying a 3.50 GPA as a history major. Caluda, a junior politics major, maintained a 3.68 GPA.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
