
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Rhodes jumped out to a 21-0 halftime lead and
never looked back as the Lynx
defeated Washington University 28-10, before a homecoming crowd
of 3,000 at Fargason Field.
Freshman quarterback Brett Stoots (Brownsville, TN) threw two
first quarter touchdown passes to ignite the Lynx offense.
Stoots hit freshman Jake Jackson (Bauxit, AR) on the Lynx
second offensive play of the day for a 66-yard touchdown. On the
next Lynx drive Stoots hit sophomore wide receiver George Smith
(Jackson, TN) on a 68-yard scoring strike and a 14-0 Lynx
lead.
Senior linebacker Desmond Hendricks (Chattanooga, TN) had a
huge day for the Lynx defense, as he recorded 13 tackles (7
solos), and a SCAC single-game record 7.5 tackles for loss. He also
tied the SCAC single-game mark with 4.5 quarterback sacks.
Sophomore defensive back Pete Bilan (Sarasota, FL) sealed the
Lynx win with a 52-yard interception return for a touchdown with
6:20 to play in the game. The Lynx improve to 2-2 on the season and
Hand the Bears their first loss of the year as they drop to
3-1.
