(Story taken from the Millsaps College website)
JACKSON, Miss. - Junior place-kicker Taylor
Russolino of Millsaps College was one of 12 players recognized
nationally on October's "Watch List" for the inaugural Fred
Mitchell Award, given to the top Division II or Division
III place-kicker for their excellence on the football field
and in the community.
"October was a record-setting month for place-kickers throughout
college football as evidenced by the fine young men that we are
delighted to honor for their achievements during the
month," Fred Mitchell said.
The Award's Selection Committee Chairman Chris Kearney added, "We
are delighted to recognize these place-kickers for their
achievements on the football field and in their communities. These
student-athletes play for schools in 11 different states and there
is even a freshman recognized this month."
Russolino leads the Majors in scoring with 68 points from 38 of 39
PAT's and 10 FG's, making all field goals in October except
for 47 and 48-yard attempts. He already holds school records for
career PAT's made (118) and attempted (127), adding his third
record at Sewanee after knocking through his 25th career field
goal.
The recipient of the inaugural Fred Mitchell Award will be
announced in mid-December based on performance on the field and in
the community.
