ZACHARIAH MITCHELL OF MCMURRY UNIVERSITY, a first-year linebacker from Fort Worth, Texas, has been named the SCAC Football Defensive Player of the Week for games played Saturday, November 2. SCAC Football Release (Week 9)
Mitchell had eight tackles, including one tackle for loss, as the War Hawks rolled to a 31-3 conference win over Austin College. Mitchell and his defensive teammates held the league's second-ranked offense to 249 yards of total offense and kept the 'Roos out of the endzone in Saturday's victory.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore defensive back Justin Navarra of Texas Lutheran tied for the team lead with eight tackles, including five solo, and added a half tackle for loss as the Bulldogs cruised to a 45-10 conference win over Lyon.
