SCAC Has 30 Selected To NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad; Three Teams Honored
CHANDLER, Ariz. - The SCAC had three teams and 30 individuals honored by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) with the release of its annual National Academic Team and Squad Awards.

Record 776 student-athletes highlight SCAC Fall 2008 Academic Honor Roll
SUWANEE, Ga. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) named a record 776 student-athletes to the 2008 SCAC Fall Academic Honor Roll on Tuesday. This year's total eclipsed last year's previous record of 715 student-athletes. Since its inception in the fall of 1997, over 13,700 student-athletes have achieved recognition for their contributions in the classroom.

Baldaccini Named Field Hockey Regional Coach of the Year
SEWANEE, Tenn. Sewanee field hockey coach Jen Baldaccini has been named the NFHCA Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year for her success in 2008, which was her first season on the Mountain.

SCAC Announces 2008 All-Conference Field Hockey Team
SUWANEE, Ga. Sewanees Lynn Hancock and DePauws Sarah Riffle, the top two goal scorers in the conference, were selected as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Offensive Co-Players-of-the-Year in exclusive voting by the leagues head field hockey coaches. In that same voting, Patty Cowley of Centre and Clarkie Crawford of Sewanee were named the leagues Defensive Co-Players-of-the-Year award.

Sewanee Falls in First NCAA Field Hockey Tournament Appearance
LYNCHBURG, Va. -- It was a cool, wet night in Lynchburg and the host Hornets stopped Sewanees recent win streak at eight with a 4-0 shutout of the visiting Tigers. 2008 marks the first SCAC championship in field hockey for Sewanee and also the first NCAA Championships appearance in the programs 33-year history.

Sewanee has earned a berth Tournament, according to the NCAA. Sewanee's opening round match will be against Lynchburg (17-5) in Lynchburg, Va. on Wednesday at 3:30 pm EST.

2008 Field Hockey Prospectus
SUWANEE, Ga. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference saw a handful of firsts for field hockey in 2007. Not only did the league expand to five participating institutions but Centre College received the first ever post-season bid into the NCAA Tournament in the four year history of SCAC field hockey.
