SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College senior men’s
basketball player Kola Alade has been selected to participate in
the inaugural National Association of Basketball Coaches NCAA
Division III All-Star Game in Salem, Virginia, it was announced
today. The game will be played on Saturday, March 20 as a part of
the NCAA Division III Final Four festivities. NABC Release
Alade, a guard from Murphy, Texas, was named the Southern
Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year and was a First
Team All-SCAC selection after leading the Roos to a program-record
20 victories in the 2009-10 season. Alade finished in the top 10 in
the conference in scoring (15.6 points per game), field goal
percentage (49.3%) and free throw percentage (73.5%). Alade was a
three-time All-SCAC performer over the course of his career.
The NABC Division III All-Star game will be played at 10:00 a.m.
(Eastern) on March 20 at the Salem Civic Center just prior to the
Division III national championship game. The teams for this event
consist of two senior players from each of the eight NCAA Division
III regions, with Alade one of two players representing the South
Region. Additionally, four more seniors will be selected from each
of the two semifinal teams who do not reach the Division III
national title game.
Alade is the only player from the Southern Collegiate Athletic
Conference to be selected for this event.
