RICHARD POLAN OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a sophomore from Brno, Czech Republich, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition played from Wednesday, March 3 through Tuesday, March 9.
Polan tied for top individual honors at the LeTourneau University/Pinecrest Intercollegiate, shooting rounds of 68, 73 and 72 for a three-round even par total of 213. He was defeated in a five-hole playoff by Houston-Victoria's Max Schliesing for medalist honors. Polan's 68 tied for the low round of the event and his third-round 72 allowed him to make up three shots on the individual leaderboard. Centenary finished fifth in the 12-team field.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Holden Wisener of Trinity finished in second place individually at the Schreiner Spring Shootout with a two-day score of 145, falling short of the individual title by two shots. He shot a 68 on Tuesday - the only player in the field to card a sub 70 round that day. Sophomore Christian Rodriguez of Southwestern paced the Pirates at the Schreiner Spring Shootout, finishing in a tie for seventh in the 65-player field with rounds of 75 and 76 to finish at 151 (+7). Junior Jonathan Miller of St. Thomas joined Rodriguez in a tie for seventh among individuals at the Schreiner Spring Shootout and shot identical rounds of 75 and 76 to finish with a two-day total of 151 (+7). Junior Robbie Evans of Dallas posted a top 10 finish (tied for ninth) at the Schreiner Spring Shootout, helping lead his team to a seventh-place finish. Evans fired rounds of 73 and 79 for a two-day score of 152 (+8). Junior Chase Maus of Texas Lutheran led the Bulldogs at the Schreiner Spring Shootout, finishing in tie for 24th after carding a pair of 78s in the tournament (156, +12). Sophomore Jake Sitterle of Schreiner had rounds of 75 and 85 for a two-day total of 160 (+16) at the Schreiner Spring Shootout. He finished in a tie for 37th.
