In last month’s finale, Centenary College won its first-ever SCAC Men’s Soccer Championship playing on its home field, defeating University of St. Thomas on penalty kicks, 5-3, after the two battled to a scoreless draw through two overtime periods.

In penalty kicks, the Gents converted on all five of their attempts as Jaron Petreas smashed home the victory-sealing PK sending the home fans into hysteria as Centenary claimed stake to its first-ever SCAC Men’s Soccer title. The last men’s soccer title for Centenary came in 1990 as members of the NCAA Division I Trans America Athletic Conference (now the ASUN Conference).

Bautista, who converted on his penalty kick and scored the opening goal of the tournament for Centenary in the quarterfinal round, was named the Offensive Tournament MVP.

Borchalli was named Defensive Tournament MVP. Borchalli finished the tournament with 17 saves, allowing just one goal and posted two clean sheets in 310:00 minutes of action.

Centenary and St. Thomas had four players each earn all-Tournament recognition, followed by Colorado College, Texas Lutheran and Trinity each with one honoree.
