ANDRES BAUTISTA OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a sophomore midfielder from Houston, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, March 7th.
Bautista scored the game-winning goal in the Gents’ 1-0 home victory against Dallas last Sunday. It was Bautista’s first goal of the season and the seventh of his career as he scored in the 82nd minute to break the scoreless tie to help secure three important points in the standings. He finished the game with five shots and three shots on target. .
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore midfielder Richard Maybury of Southwestern assisted on the lone goal in the Pirates’ 1-0 win at Schreiner last Saturday. In the 17th minute, Maybury carried the ball into open space up the right sideline before delivering a cross into Jackson DeHaven for the game-winning goal. Junior striker Kelvin Cardona of St. Thomas scored the game-winning goal in the Celts, 1-0, victory at Texas Lutheran last Saturday.
