LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- The last two Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's swimming and diving teams completed regular season competition as all eyes shift to San Antonio and the Josh Davis Natatorium in anticipation of next week's SCAC Swimming & Diving Championships.
University of the Ozarks posted its second win of the season, defeating Williams Baptist 135-70 in a dual on Saturday at the Clarksville Aquatics Center on Senior Day.
Senior Jacob Jones celebrated his final home meet with wins in three events. He took first in the 50 back (27.52), the 50 free (22.23) and the 100 free (49.14). Josh Collins was a double-winner for Ozarks, touching first in the 50 fly (26.79) and 100 IM (58.57). Other winners for the Eagles included Michael Walkine who won the 50 breast with a time of 28.96, Nicollai Van Zyl who won the 100 breast with a time of 1:05.11, and Nicolas Dunsworth with a victory in the 500 free with a finish of 5:32.23.
Walkine, Van Zyl, Collins and Jones won the 400 free relay posting a time of 3:33.63, while the combination of Nicolas White, Dunsworth, Van Zyl and Jones won the 800 free relay with a time of 8:02.21.
Trinity University took on the NCAA Division I University of the Incarnate Word (Texas) Friday in a dual meet at UIW's Barshop Natatorium. The Tigers were defeated 166-103.
Among the highlights for Trinity, Spencer Steward was in fine form, posting a pair of second places in the 50 breast (26.8) and the 150 breast (1:31.49) taking the 100 out in 58.7.
Daniel Sarman placed second in the 50 back by one second to the UIW competitor, and Anthony Liva was runner-up in men's diving on the 1-meter and 3-meter boards.
The 2020 SCAC Swimming & Diving Championships will be hosted at the Blossom Athletic Center and the Josh Davis Natatorium in San Antonio, Texas. Action begins Wednesday evening, February 12, and runs through Saturday, February 15. Southwestern University is the defending men's champion.
