ANDRE NEWLANDS OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a freshman from Austin, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men's Swimmer of the Week for all meets through Sunday, October 19th.
Newlands stepped up big for the Tigers winning the 50 with a 21.99 and the 100 with a 48.66. He also anchored Trinity's 3:19.01 win in the 400 freestyle relay.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman Tyler Brown of Austin College won the 100 freestyle (51.80) & 200 freestyle (1:52.36) and was on the winning 200 freestyle relay at this past Friday's meet at McMurry. Sophomore Zachary Harrison of Centenary College took first in the 200 free with a time of 1:48.25 at the Trinity dual meet last week.
