One Men's Tennis Team, 16 Student-Athletes Earn ITA All-Academic Honors

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released the 2016 men's tennis All-Academic Team Thursday afternoon and 16 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference student-athletes were honored, while one program earned All-Academic Team recognition.

Austin College, Southwestern University and Texas Lutheran were each represented by five student-athletes, while Trinity University had one honoree.

Texas Lutheran University was also recognized as an All-Academic Team by ITA. The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20Austin Collegea 4.00 scale).

Austin College seniors Cedric Ambulo and Zach Bomar were joined by juniors Jacob Morgan and Preston Glasscock and freshman Kenneth Hardy.

Southwestern was represented by sophomores Rod Khansari, Neik Khansari, Grant Gideon and Nick Farmen, and freshman Haluki Nakayama.

Texas Lutheran added to the SCAC honorees with senior Kyle Thompson, junior Eric Beckenbach and freshmen Nick Roccaforte, Connor Dunmore and Eric Wendt.

Trinity rounded out the group with sophomore Kevin Lee getting recognized.

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).
