SHERMAN, Texas -- Top-seeded Trinity University opened play at the Southern College Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Championship with a 5-0 quarterfinal victory over the eighth-seed University of Dallas Thursday afternoon on the Jordan Family Courts at the Russell Tennis Center on the campus of Austin College in Sherman, Texas. Trinity improved to 14-8 and will face off against the winner of No. 4 seed Texas Lutheran and No. 5 seed Schreiner on Saturday at the indoor courts at Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex on the campus of Southern Methodist University. University of Dallas closes the 2024 season with a 1-14 mark.
The Tigers quickly swept all three doubles points, highlighted by an 8-0 victory by Jared Perry and Ethan Flores at No. 1 doubles. TU’s Connor Whittington picked up the team’s first singles win with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Dallas’ Ben Paul. Aashish Dhanani, who earned a win at No. 3 doubles with teammate Conor Kaczmarczyk, clinched the match for the Tigers with a win at No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Trinity's men are undefeated in quarterfinal play in the SCAC era (1992-present), having advanced to every conference semifinal by an impressive 179-2 game margin in 25 quarterfinal matches.
