Roy defeated the nation's fifth-ranked player, Raghav Jangbahadur of Carnegie Mellon, 7-5, 6-7 (4-7), 6-1, on Wednesday, leading 17th-ranked Southwestern to a 5-4 victory over the 18th-ranked Tartans. He ended his week with a straight-sets, 6-3, 6-4, win over Rhodes' Christian Mainella on Sunday.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Cashton Herrera of Texas Lutheran went 3-0 in singles competition last week against Sul Ross State and University of St. Mary, shifting between the No. 2 (1-0) and No. 3 spots (2-0). Herrera now has a team-leading seven singles wins this season and has won four straight matches. Sophomore Aashish Dhanani of Trinity won the clincher at line four as #14 Tigers men's tennis defeated #22 Carnegie Mellon last week. Dhanani helped the Tigers complete a rally after being down 2-1 after doubles and 3-2 after the first two singles matches were finished. He scored a 6-4, 7-6 (3) win at line four to secure the team win as Trinity won each of the last four singles matches on the courts to take a 6-3 win.
