Two SCAC Track & Field Athletes Earn Google Cloud Academic All-District Recognition

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Texas Lutheran University's Marquis Brown and Trinity University's Matt Love were both named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Team Tuesday.

Brown, a senior on the Bulldogs' track team, posted a 3.67 grade point average as a Kinesiology major at TLU. On the track, he competed in three events at the 2018 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, helping the team to a second-place finish in the men's 4x100 meter relay, while placing sixth in the 400 meter dash and ninth in the 4x400 meter relay.

Love, a senior field athlete for the Tigers, holds a 3.62 GPA as a business administration and communications major. He qualified for the NCAAs with the sixth-best discus throw in the nation during the regular season (52.60m). At the championship event, he reached 50.49 meters in the discus, finishing in eighth place to become an All-American.

The 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Track & Field/Cross Country teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
 
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot, with first- and second-team Academic All-America® honorees to be announced in June.
