BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Birmingham-Southern senior
cross country runner Justin Leach won the Weather Channel Atlanta
Marathon on Thanksgiving Day last week.
Leach, a native of Powder Springs, Ga., took over the lead around the 22-mile mark and never looked back, clocking a time of 2 hours 39 minutes.
"With a short cross country season, we knew he was in shape,"
BSC head cross country/track and field coach Lars Porter said. "We
just didn't have enough time to develop enough speed. He was
frustrated with his season, so this was a well-deserved and
hard-earned win. Justin has a tremendous work ethic and will
continue to be successful this spring and after graduation."
