MARSHALL, Texas -- Eighth-ranked Texas Lutheran Bulldogs will play for an NCAA Division III Softball Regional Championship today after a 6-1 victory Sunday afternoon against second-ranked East Texas Baptist.
TLU eliminated the host Tigers and faces Birmingham-Southern College for the regional championship.
TLU needs one victory over BSC to claim the first softball regional title in school history.
The sixth-ranked Panthers, with a 1-1 record in the regional, must defeat TLU twice to win the regional championship. The Bulldogs defeated BSC 2-0 on Friday afternoon in the regional's opening game.
The first championship game is set for a 5 p.m. start at ETBU's Taylor Field.
If necessary, the two teams would play a second championship game at 1 p.m. Monday.
