GEORGETOWN, Texas -- Southwestern University welcomes Alexis Lynn as the new head coach of the Pirates softball team.

Lynn joins the Southwestern athletics staff with experience in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), having helmed the Schreiner University program since Aug. 2019. The Mountaineers posted a 17-7 conference record over Lynn's tenure.

"We're delighted to have a coach of this caliber leading our softball program," Director of Athletics Glenn Schwab says. "We were impressed with the work she did at Schreiner and feel she makes a great addition to our staff."

Before Schreiner, Lynn was an assistant softball coach at Marian University in Wisconsin from 2016-2019. Lynn was part of a coaching staff that led Marian to its best three-year stretch in program history, advancing to the team's first Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference  (NACC) championship game since 2008 in 2017. A year later, they were the NACC regular-season champions.

Lynn is from Round Rock, Texas, and played four years for the Concordia University Tornados softball team from 2011-2014, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in 2014. In addition, she served two years as the graduate assistant at Concordia, earning her Master of Education degree in 2016.

Southwestern went 14-19 overall last season, with an 11-10 conference record. The softball season opens on Feb. 5 with a doubleheader against the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
