Oglethorpe Advances to NCAA Second Round after 68-65 Win Over Maryville

ATLANTA, Ga. - The Oglethorpe University Stormy
Petrels defeated the Maryville (Tenn.) College Scots on Pinholster
Court Friday night in NCAA Division III Women's Basketball round
one action, 68-65. Senior Anna Findley buried a three-pointer for
Oglethorpe with less than a minute remaining to provide the final
margin and lift the Petrels to the win. Box

Senior Katie Kulavic led all scorers on the night with 19 points
and four assists as Oglethorpe survived a scare from a game Scots
squad. Findley added 17 points, 6 rebounds and four assists and
fellow senior Biz Richmann netted 12 points and led all players
with 11 rebounds. Tina Grace connected for 14 points to round out
the Petrels in double-figures.
Natalie Munday and Tara Heyboer led Maryville College with 15
points apiece on the night.
After the gut-wrenching win that saw Findley and Kulavic each log
40 minutes of clock time, the Petrels are back in action tomorrow
night on Pinholster Court versus the Greensboro College Pride at
7:00 p.m.
Greensboro (27-2) advanced with a 77-70 victory over
Mississippi College in the evening's first contest.
