Oglethorpe's Sattele selected 2009 Russell Athletic/WBCA Regional Coach of the Year


ATLANTA, Ga. - Oglethorpe University head women's basketball coach Ron Sattele, after leading his Petrels to the program's first-ever SCAC title and a fourth-consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament, has been named the 2009 Russell Athletic/WBCA Division III Region Coach of the Year. Sattele has posted a 105-41 overall mark in his five years as head coach at Oglethorpe (.719) and has led the Petrels to four straight NCAA Tournament invites, including a Final Four appearance last season.

Oglethorpe won its first-ever SCAC title in any women's sport with last month's 82-66 victory over Trinity in the conference tournament championship game.

Last weekend, the Petrels (27-3) advanced to their second consecutive Sweet Sixteen after NCAA First and Second Round victories over Maryville (Tenn.) and Greensboro, respectively, at Dorough Fieldhouse.
