Trinity's Anderson Named USBWA National Player of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., -- Trinity University sophomore forward Natalie Anderson was named the inaugural U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) Division III National Player of the Week for the 2023-24 season it was announced Tuesday. Complete USBWA Release

Anderson, a 6-0 sophomore guard from San Jose, Calif., led No. 11 (D3hoops.com) Trinity to a pair of road wins to open SCAC play over the weekend, defeating both Southwestern and Texas Lutheran. Anderson averaged 22.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per game over the two wins, hitting 55.2 percent (16-of-29) from the field and 80 percent (12-of-15) from the free throw line. She opened with 17 points and seven rebounds in just 28 minutes against Southwestern but saved her best performance for Saturday night. Anderson finished with 27 points and 12 rebounds in the overtime win over Texas Lutheran. With Trinity down two and less than four seconds on the clock, Anderson dropped in a buzzer-beating layup to send the game into overtime.

For her efforts, Anderson was also selected the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Player of the Week .  

Robbins is the first SCAC athlete to earn USBWA Division III National Player of the Week since her teammate, Maggie Robbins was recognized back in November of 2023.
