NATALIE ANDERSON OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore forward from San Jose, Calif., has been named the SCAC Women’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Wednesday, November 8 through Sunday, November 12. SCAC Women's Basketball Release (Week 1)
Anderson just missed two double-doubles to lead the #6/12 Trinity women’s basketball team to a 2-0 start to the 2023-24 season, defeating Mary Hardin-Baylor and East Texas Baptist over the weekend.
Anderson averaged 19.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game over the two victories, hitting 62.5% (15-of-24) from the field and 75% (9-for-12) from the foul line. She opened the season with a career-high 27 points and nine boards, connecting on 12-of-15 from the field in the win over Mary Hardin-Baylor. Anderson followed that up with 12 points and nine boards to help Trinity defeat East Texas Baptist.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
First-year guard Lexi Martin of Austin College led the ‘Roos to their highest scoring output since 2021 in a 93-86 win over Lyon. Martin stuffed the stat sheet in her collegiate debut with 19 points, six assists, four rebounds, and a steal in the victory. Junior guard Alana Jones of Centenary got off to a strong start this season as she averaged 6.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game in a pair of road games against Jarvis Christian and Wiley. Jones also shot 78.6 percent from the free-throw line and grabbed a season-high 10 rebounds on Saturday at Wiley. Junior center Zoe Tomlinson of Colorado College led the Tigers to a perfect 2-0 start to open the season recording a double-double in each contest. She scored 12 points and pulled down 11 rebounds in the season-opening 85-48 victory over Nebraska Wesleyan, then had 12 points and 14 rebounds in the 69-58 win over UT-Dallas. Junior guard Ravyn Ellis of St. Thomas le the Celts with 16 points, going a perfect 4-for-4 at the line in the season opener against Arlington Baptist. She also added seven rebounds, five steals and a block. Sophomore forward Brianna Wilson of Texas Lutheran recorded a career-high 16 points and eight rebounds against LeTourneau and followed that up with 12 points and five rebounds against Concordia to lead TLU to a 2-0 week.
