Katie Kulavic, Oglethorpe University, Women's Basketball


KATIE KULAVIC OF OGLETHORPE UNIVERSITY a senior guard from Norcross, Ga., has been named SCAC Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played Monday, February 16th through Sunday, February 22nd.

Kulavic averaged 23.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists over the weekend and carried the Petrels into the postseason as the number one seed in the eastern division with a standout performance against Centre on Sunday.

Kulavic was a red hot from the field over the weekend shooting 70.3% on 19 of 27 from the field. On Sunday Kulavic became the SCAC's all-time scoring leader in a 79-75 victory over Centre. With 5:22 remaining in the second half and off an assist from Tina Grace, Kulavic drained a three-pointer to notch her 30th point of the game and 1,847th of her career - surpassing the career total of Tori Huggins.

Kulavic finished Sunday's contest with a career-high 33 points, sinking 14 of 17 shots from the field, as the Petrels locked up the East Division top seed in next weekend's conference tournament. She stands at 1,850 career points heading into the event.
