BLANCO, Texas -- The Trinity University women finished with a two-day total of 665 to earn the program its second consecutive conference title at the 2017 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Golf Championship Tuesday at Vaaler Creek Golf Club. Leading by two shots heading into the final round, the Tigers fired a 328 (+40) - the best round of the tournament - and finished eight shots clear of second-place Schreiner University.
Southwestern University placed third with a 685, Texas Lutheran University was fourth with a score of 734 and Centenary College came in at fifth at 741.
Centenary sophomore Jessica Varner earned tournament medalist honors with a two-day total of 154 (+10).
Head Coach Carla Spenkoch guided the Tigers to their second consecutive championship, and third in the past four years, Prior to winning the title in 2014, Trinity also captured the top spot in 1995, before Coach Spenkoch's arrival in 1997.
