SIERRA RUPP OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a first-year midfielder from Bellevue, Washington, has been named the SCAC Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, April 4 through Sunday, April 10. (Women's Lacrosse Weekly Release - Week 8)
Rupp led the Pirates' defensive effort in Sunday's 26-2 conference victory over Dallas, contributing with a team-high five ground balls as well as four draw controls and three caused turnovers. She also chipped in offensively with three goals on four shots.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year defendier Devon Ortman of Colorado College contributed at both ends of the field during back-to-back losses at Cabrini University and Stockton University last weekend on the East Coast. Ortman led the Tigers with eight draw controls, picked up five ground balls and caused a turnover in the midfield, and contributed a goal and four assists in the offensive zone. Ortman produced three draw controls, three ground balls and a pair of assists during Saturday's 21-12 setback at Cabrini. During Sunday's loss at Stockton, she recorded five draw controls and a pair of ground balls in the midfield, and added a goal and two assists for the attack.
