CHELSEA COLE OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior forward from Texarkana, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played the week of Monday, September 10th to Sunday, September 16th.
Cole led the Tiger women’s soccer team to three shutout victories to open SCAC play last week, defeating Texas Lutheran, Austin College, and previously unbeaten Centenary.
Cole tied a school record by netting four scores in Friday’s win over Austin. She was remarkably efficient in that she scored the four goals on just four shots, and also knocked in the eventual game-winner.
Cole finished the week with five total goals on 10 shots overall, with seven of those 10 shots being shots on goal. This season, Cole leads the Tigers with six goals scored and two game-winners.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman midfielder Hallie Rutherford of Southwestern was crucial in a pair of win last week for the Pirates. Rutherford scored a goal in each game including the game-winner against Johnson & Wales to open up SCAC play.
