JACLYN SMOLIK OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a junior forward from Katy, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played the week of Monday, October 22nd to Sunday, October 28th.
Smolik knocked home the game-winner with four seconds on the clock to lift Texas Lutheran to a 2-1 SCAC victory Friday evening over Austin College. The junior took a cross from Alyssa Reimer faked right and shot left just past the keeper from about ten yards.
It was Smolik's ninth goal of the season (fourth in the SCAC) and her fourth game-winning goal (third in the SCAC).
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year midfielder Camryn Beall of Trinity scored the eventual game-winning goal less than a minute into the 17th-ranked Tigers' 2-0 victory over Johnson & Wales on Sunday afternoon. The game-winner came just 58 seconds into the contest, marking the first game-winner of the season for Beall. Senior forward Kierstyn Luckock of Southwestern scored the game-winning goal in overtime on senior day against the University of Dallas, beating the Crusaders' goalie to the ball on a pass from Mallory Harkins with a sliding kick to find the back of the net. She was also instrumental in the Pirates' passing attack against Austin College, controlling the middle of the field and delivering perfectly weighted, long passes to help Southwestern rack up 24 shots.
