Amy Benson, Trinity University, Swimmer of the Week (Week 5)

AMY BENSON OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from New Market, N.H., has been selected the SCAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week for performances during meets swam Friday, November 8 to Sunday, November 10. SCAC Swimming & Diving Release (Week 5)

Benson swam two NCAA B cut times at the 2024 Division III Shootout this weekend at the University of Chicago. She won the 50 freestyle in a 23.48, and touched fifth in the 100 freestyle with a 51.42. Benson also swam on four Trinity relays, beginning Friday night when she anchored the 200 medley relay in 22.97 before anchoring the 200 freestyle relay in 22.94 on Saturday. On Friday night she also anchored the 800 freestyle relay with a 1:53.83, and the following day she split a 50.44 on the 400 medley relay.

Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Joslyn Dimitri of Austin College has made waves this season in her first few races as a 'Roo. Swimming against Southwestern University, Dimitri swam a 12:03.54 in her 1000 free, dropping over seven seconds for a personal record. Junior Maddy Rohrer of McMurry won the 200 free in 2:09.02 and the 50 free in 26.08 in a dual meet against University of the Ozarks on Saturday. She also won the 100 freestyle in 57.41 on Friday, and was a member of both the victorious 200 and 400 medley relay teams. Junior Jessie Wright of University of the Ozarks won the 500 free in 5:48.82, the 200 back in 2:19.80, the 400 IM in 5:48.82, and placed second in the 100 fly in 1:05.33 in a pair of dual meets against McMurry over the weekend. She also split 59.23 to help the 400 free relay to victory and split 26.61 while anchoring the 200 free relay to out touch McMurry by .01 of a second for the win.
