
RUTH HILL OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from Abilene, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for matches played from Monday, March 27 to Sunday, April 2. Hill led the 14th-ranked Tigers' women's tennis to a pair of wins this weekend, sweeping Austin College and earning an 8-1 win over No. 37 UT-Dallas. Hill finished off a hard-fought singles win in the match against UT-Dallas 6-1, 5-7, 1-0 (10-7), defeating the 10th-ranked singles player in the country. The win closed out a singles sweep for the Tigers.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Senior Taylor Despriet of Southwestern earned a come-from-behind, match-clinching 5-7, 6-1, 6-4 victory over UT-Dallas' Elyssa Decret in Sunday's 6-3 win over the 37th-ranked Comets. Junior Hannah Reyna of Schreiner was 2-0 on the week, highlighted by a 6-0, 6-1 over TLU's Elena Brancaleon at No. 1 singles in the Mountaineers' 6-3 SCAC victory on Saturday. Senior Paula Acosta of Texas Lutheran posted a 3-1 mark on the week in singles competition, earning two wins against Sul Ross and one against Schreiner in conference play. Senior Regina Lopez of St. Thomas helped the Celts in their sweep of Dallas this past Saturday, earning a 6-2, 6-4 victory to clinch the team's third consecutive SCAC win.
