Colorado College; Southwestern and Trinity Headed to NCAA Volleyball Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Committee announced today the field of 62 teams for the 2009 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship, and, for the second consecutive year, the SCAC will send Colorado College, Southwestern University and Trinity University to the event. Forty conferences were awarded automatic qualification for the 2009 championship.  Three teams were selected from Pool B, which consists of independent institutions and institutions that are members of conferences that do not meet the requirements for automatic qualification. The final 19 berths were reserved for Pool C, which consists of institutions from automatic-qualifying conferences that are not the conference champion and any remaining Pool B teams.

Southwestern University (33-3), the SCAC champion and winners of 31 consecutive matches, will serve as one of eight regional host sites. The Pirates open South Region play against University of Dallas (20-19) while Trinity University (27-11) - also in the South Region - plays Randolph-Macon (28-6) in the first round.

Colorado College (33-4) received a first-round bye in the West Region and will play the winner of Cal Lutheran (20-11) and Puget Sound (18-6) in second round play.
