
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The sixth week of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball continued with three teams earning weekend series sweeps.
No.1 Colorado College (12-0) remained perfect following a weekend sweep of Austin College. The Tigers posted a 25-18, 25-23, 25-15 victory over the ‘Roos on Saturday as Isabella Vasquez and Georgia Mullins recorded 12 kills apiece to lead CC. Vasquez also had a team-high 14 kills to complete her third double-double of the season. Mullins, who hit .400 on 25 swings, also had a hand in five of CC's eight total blocks. The Tigers finished the weekend with a 25-17, 25-16, 25-9 win over Austin College on Sunday. Right-side hitter Laney Swan put away a season-high nine kills on 15 swings with just one error and finished the match with a .533 hitting percentage. Mullins hit .615 with nine kills on 13 swings with just one error and was involved in six blocked shots. Vasquez finished with eight kills and a team-high 11 digs. For Austin College (6-4), Mari Prazak led with 10 digs in match one while Ali Horton dished out 12 assists and added six digs. In game two, Prazak had a team-high nine digs.
No. 2 Trinity (10-2) also posted a weekend sweep, notching a pair of 3-0 victories on Friday over St. Thomas. Middle blocker Emily Ellis collected 11 blocks over Friday's six sets, helping to hold the visiting Celts to a .023 hitting percentage on the day. Outside hitter Avery Tuggle paced Trinity with 17 kills and was one of five Tigers, including Ellis with 13 kills, to land in double figures in kills on the day. Lexie Acevedo averaged 6.5 assists per set, adding 10 digs, three aces and a pair of kills. St. Thomas (5-5) was led by Alyssa Ajlouny with 12 kills over the two matches and Kaylyn Latin finished with 35 digs.
Southwestern (5-3) was the third team to post a weekend sweep as the Pirates came away with a pair of 3-1 wins over Texas Lutheran. Lauren Crabtree led the Pirates with 13 kills and added 16 assists and 12 digs to post her second consecutive triple-double in match one. Three players finished the match with double-digit kills, with Riley Brantley leading the way putting down 10 on 29 attacks. In match two, Emma White led the Pirates with 14 kills on a .297 hitting percentage, and Crabtree posted her third consecutive triple-double with 17 assists, 12 kills, and 12 digs. Riley Brantley had nine kills, four block assists, and a solo block. Texas Lutheran (1-9) was led by Tanyse Moehrig who was playing in just her third and fourth career college matches after joining the team from the basketball squad. The first-year hit .297 with 25 kills (3.13 per set) with seven digs and four blocks.
Dallas (2-8) split games over the weekend, earning a 3-1 victory over Centenary in game one of Saturday’s doubleheader. Dayjah Whyte paced the Crusaders’ offense with 16 kills while Abigail Porras also reached double-digits with 10. Larissa Ramirez compiled a season-best 39 assists. Centenary (3-7) earned the series split with a 3-2 win over Dallas on Saturday. Alyssa Davis, who leads the SCAC in kills, led the Ladies’ attack, posting 26 kills. Jaycie Proctor recorded 23 digs in the victory.
Four more conference series are on the schedule this weekend with Austin College traveling to St. Thomas, No. 2 Trinity playing at Texas Lutheran, Schreiner visiting Dallas and Centenary taking on Southwestern.
