
JENNA RODRIGUEZ OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a first-year libero from San Antonio, Texas, has been named SCAC Volleyball Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, October 3 through Sunday, October 9. SCAC Volleyball Release (Week 6)
Rodriguez had a breakout weekend in Colorado Springs as she set a new career-high with 24 digs in the second-ranked Tigers' four-set victory in the 2021 SCAC title rematch against Southwestern.
For the weekend, Rodriguez led with a 5.00 digs per set average, also a stark increase from her season average of 3.07. The first-year libero's efforts helped to drag Trinity's opponent hitting percentage down to .162 en route to keeping the Tigers undefeated in conference play this season. Trinity has won 32-straight regular-season league matches.
Other impressive performances in the SCAC:
Senior right side Madison Weisinger of Texas Lutheran was once again a leader on the TLU front line, tallying 15 blocks over the course of four matches which included a nine block effort in the Bulldogs' 3-1 win over Colorado College (tied for fifth-most in a match in TLU history). Weisinger is currently second in the SCAC in blocks and first in block assists. Senior middle blocker Paige Havel of St. Thomas charted 12 total blocks on the week, averaging 1.20 blocks per set, as she helped anchor a Celt defense that beat Schreiner to return to sixth place in the SCAC standings. Sophomore middle blocker Kaylie Stuteville of Colorado College totaled eight blocks (0.80 per set) in a 2-1 week for the Tigers.
