Camden Camacho, Schreiner University, Baseball

CAMDEN CAMACHO OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a sophomore on the Mountaineers' baseball team, has been selected the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Character and Community Male Student Athlete of the Week for the week beginning April 9, 2018.

The SCAC honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.

Camacho is currently a Resident Assistant (RA) on campus and recently found out that he has been promoted to be a Senior RA for the 2018-2019 academic year. This is a new leadership role for the Palm Beach native, and he is excited to help influence, lead, and develop other students as well as enhance his own leadership skills and experiences at Schreiner. Camacho is also the Chairman of the Residence Assistants Social Committee, which offers programming and development for the Resident Assistants. This is a unique experience because instead of the usual programming for the residents that RA’s put on, this is planned for the RA’s.

The sophomore baseball student-athlete is also a Peer Coordinator for the Mountaineer mentors. This was a special program for him to get involved with because he enjoyed his own fulfilling experience as a freshman with the support of great mentors and wanted to share that with future Mountaineers. His involvement on campus does not stop there, as Camacho is also a note taker for Learning Support Services.

Camacho is a Chemistry Major, and serves as a Supplemental Instructor for General Chemistry I and II. Very dedicated and interested with his area of study, he also works in the Chemistry Lab on campus and interns at Equitech-Bio in Kerrville, Texas.
