James Settles led the Colorado College men's cross country to a 13
th-place finish among 27 Division III teams Saturday at the prestigious Augustana Invitational in Rock Island, Ill.
Settles finished 60
th individually, covering the 8K race in 24 minutes, 59.5 seconds.
The Tigers finished the race with 391 points, one point ahead of SCAC-foe Trinity University. No. 1-ranked Pomona-Pitzer won the meet with 48 points, followed by No. 4 North Central College with 69. Nine of the top 10 teams are ranked in the top 35 nationally. Christopher Collet of Wartburg College won the race in a time of 23:47.5.

"We have been dealing with some illness in recent weeks," head coach
Alex Nichols said. "Even though our team wasn't at 100% today, I was really encouraged by the results. We are closing some gaps and will be ready for big things in the coming weeks."
The Tigers return to action on Saturday, Oct. 29, at the SCAC Championship Meet in Georgetown, Texas.
