GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Women's Cross Country continued their season by hosting the SU Showdown in Georgetown, Texas on Saturday, September 14th.
Coach Joe Sponsel had this to say about the meet "The women continue to show their improved fitness and racing grit. I am super proud of the individual performances and the team results. There was a lot of year-over year improvement from this same race from last year. 4 athletes ran nearly or over a minute faster than their time last year. Brea Steele who won the race improved her time by nearly 3 and a half minutes putting her #3 all-time.
As the team has grown in the last couple years, we've been able to train in groups day-to-day and reap the benefits that comes along with having tammates you can work with and rely on. I think that really helped the freshmen handle the full college distance for the first time today. They translated that group running well into the race today with a couple of groups finishing very close to one another. Next up for us are a couple races with much bigger fields where those tight packs can have a big effect on the team standings at the end."
