Women's Tennis Wins in SCAC Tournament, Men Fall to TLU
WACO, Texas - The Austin College women's tennis team picked up its first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament victory since the 2019 season on Thursday morning, topping Texas Lutheran University 4-0 in opening round competition. The 'Roo men also took on TLU, falling 5-0 to the Bulldogs.
WACO, Texas - The Austin College women's tennis team picked up its first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament victory since the 2019 season on Thursday morning, topping Texas Lutheran University 4-0 in opening round competition. The 'Roo men also took on TLU, falling 5-0 to the Bulldogs.
Austin College picked up a point in doubles action on the women's side, taking line three via walkover while the number two team of Bailey Standokes and Emma Davidson earned a 6-1 victory. Lauren Hofeldt got a win on line one in singles competition via walkover to make it 2-0 in favor of the 'Roos, and Davidson and Natalie Valle won on lines four and five, respectively to clinch the victory and help the 'Roos advance to the second round.
Davidson won her match 6-1, 6-1, while Valle was dominant in a 6-0, 6-0 win. Lines one through three went unfinished after Austin College was able to lock up the match at 4-0. The 'Roos now move on to take on No. 3-seed Colorado College on Friday at 3:00 p.m.
The 'Roo men dropped their round one match against TLU after the Bulldogs earned two points via walkover on lines five and six, while Patrick Fenner was bested 3-6, 1-6 on line two, Joel Colunga was defeated 2-6, 1-6 on line three, and Cruz Rocha fell 3-6, 0-6 on line four to round out the scoring.
