Celts Handle Business on the Road

IRVING,TX- St. Thomas men's basketball team hit the road for Irving, Texas, to take on the University of Dallas and came away with a 57-41 victory. With the win, the Celts improved to 17-1 overall and remained undefeated in the conference.

The Crusaders came out aggressive on their home court, opening the game with a quick 5-2 lead. However, UST wasted no time responding, as Ricky Altamirano knocked down a three-pointer to put the Celts up 7-5. The game remained tight early, with both teams trading baskets until UST took its first lead at the 12-minute mark, 14-13. From there, the Celts found their rhythm, fueled by sharp perimeter shooting and strong defensive play.

Marion Williams provided a spark off the bench, drilling back-to-back three-pointers to push the Celts ahead 23-15. He followed up with another deep shot, extending the lead to double digits at 25-15. UST's defensive pressure continued to disrupt Dallas, holding them to limited scoring opportunities. By halftime, the Celts had built a 40-20 advantage.

After the break, UST maintained control, limiting the Crusaders' offensive rhythm and forcing low-percentage shots. Angel Johnson opened the second-half scoring with a smooth jump shot to make it 42-24, and the Celts did nto stop there. The Celts' defense remained relentless, holding Dallas to just 23.3% shooting in the final 20 minutes. With a comfortable lead, UST managed the clock and secured another dominant conference victory.

Andrew Adebo led the charge for UST, finishing with 15 points on an efficient 6-for-10 shooting while grabbing 6 rebounds and tallying two steals. Angel Johnson was a force on both ends, adding 12 points, 4 rebounds, and a  4vassists. Ricky Altamirano contributed 9 points, hitting three shots from beyond the arc to give the Celts a boost early. Marion Williams provided valuable scoring, knocking down 3 three-pointers on his way to 10 points.
