Flynn Sets School Record as No. 19 Tiger Women's Golf Claims Victory At Alamo City Classic

SAN ANTONIO - No. 19 Tiger Women's Golf takes home the title at the Alamo City Classic at The Quarry Golf Course. 
 
The Tigers decimated their opponents. The Tigers beat Southwestern, the second-place team, by 25 strokes. The Tigers would shoot just four over par on the day, shooting a team total of 584 (297-287). The Tigers beat last year's total by 30 strokes. The Tigers also put three players in the top five and the other two in the top fifteen. The Tigers set team records for a one day with their 287 score today. They also broke their two day low during this tournament. 
 
Leading the way for Trinity was senior Erin Flynn (League City, Texas / Clear Falls) who had an excellent two days. The Tiger senior started off the day by tying her career low again with a 71-stroke round. Then, in the second round of the day, crushed her personal best by four strokes as she shot a 67 to bring her total to 138 and a first-place overall finish. This marks the first tournament win of her career. Her 67-stroke round sets a new school record for Trinity since 2016. 
 
Next for the Tigers would be fellow senior Kiona Hsiu (Missouri City, Texas / Elkins) who would total 145 on the day. She shot a 75 in the first round, but then tied her career best with a 70 in round two and a second-place finish. Finishing fifth overall would be senior Kate Schulle (Cedar Park, Texas / Cedar Park) who would shoot a two-round total of 150 (73-77). Rounding out the scorecard for the Tigers would be senior Lucy Hansen (Gilbert, Arizona / Campo Verde) who would shoot a 154 (80-74), and first-year Marlo Zamora (San Antonio, Texas / Reagan) who would shoot a 155 (78-77).  Flynn, Hsiu, Schulle, and junior Carmen Kennett (Missouri City, Texas / Ridge Point) would be named to the All-Tournament Team.

"There has been lots of emotion for me,' said Head Coach Shelby DeVore. "I am so proud of the girls, they played absolutely amazing. It is fantastic to see all their hard work and dedication, they have worked so hard all semester and it payed off. Today has been hands down my favorite day of coaching in my career."

The Tigers will take a trip to Destin, Florida to compete in the Golfweek D-III Fall Invitational from October 15th through October 17th.
