DALLAS – The Tiger men's and women's cross country teams competed at their biggest meet of the season, competing against mostly non-Division III teams at the DBU Old Glory Gallop on Saturday morning.
Trinity's men finished eighth in the 8K competition and were led by a record-breaking performance from senior
Will Salony (Dallas, Texas / JJ Pearce) in 10th place, while
Gianna Keena (Lakeway, Texas / Lake Travis) shattered her personal record and paced the women's team that finished 12th in the 5K race.
Salony finished in 24:24 in his first 8K of the season to break a record he set himself two years ago. The rest of the Tiger men also enjoyed an outstanding day, finishing with the best team average time in school history.
Diego Flores (San Antonio, Texas / Great Hearts Monte Vista North) had his fastest career time as well, joining Salony as the only Tiger runners to break 25 minutes in an 8K race. Flores finished 27th overall with a time of 24:54 that puts him second in school history.
Also making a huge jump on Trinity's all-time list was
Logan Nasky (Irving, Texas / MacArthur), who finished 55th overall in 25:28 to move into eighth in school history.
Nathaniel Trevino (San Antonio, Texas / Central Catholic) etched his name into the top 10 in Trinity cross country history with a time of 25:35.
Ryan Tresaugue (Spring, Texas / The Woodlands) and
Kyle Fix (Wilmette, Ill. / New Trier) both finished in the top 100, with Tresaugue posting a time of 26:01, and Fix coming in at 26:09 for the Tigers.
Keena's time of 18:28 was good enough for 45th individually and was nearly a 20-second improvement from her time earlier this season at the UIW Invitational. Each of Trinity's top five women were in the top 100 individually and the split for the top five was a mere 37 seconds.
Charlotte Martin (Southlake, Texas / Carroll) finished in 18:50 for nearly a 20-second improvement from the UIW Invite, while
Emerson Voldan (Arlington, Texas / Mansfield Summit) clocked in at 18:54 to improve her top time this season by almost a full minute.
Cali Good (Yucaipa, Calif. / Yucaipa) just missed breaking the 19-minute mark at 19:01, with
Josette Gurule (Santa Fe, N.M. / Academy for Technology and the Classics) crossing the line at 19:05.
