Bulldogs Fall to #RV Trinity

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran fell behind early Friday and the Bulldogs never recovered, dropping an 86-38 decision to rival #RV Trinity at Memorial Gymnasium.

Texas Lutheran, who is still in the hunt for the final spot in the 2025 SCAC Tournament, falls to 6-14 overall and 4-7 in SCAC play. The Tigers extended their win streak to 11, improving to 17-3 and 10-1 in conference.

This one got away from the Bulldogs early. Trinity used a 19-2 run over the opening eight minutes of the game. The Tigers would limit the Bulldogs to just 13 points in the first half, taking a 48-13 lead into the break. The Bulldogs never mounted a serious threat in the second half as Trinity steadily built its lead, pushing it to 50 with 1:16 remaining.

Kris Jones (Port Aransas/Port Aransas) and Carter Lewis (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) scored six points each to lead the Bulldogs in scoring off the bench as the Bulldogs shot just 22.4 percent from the floor (15-of-67). Trinity shot 51.7 percent from the floor as a team. The two teams tied with 14 turnovers each with the Tigers leading the points off turnover category 27-8.

The Bulldogs will look to rebound on Saturday, Feb. 8, as they face the Schreiner Mountaineers in their final home game of the 2024-25 season. Tip-off is set for 6 PM. The game will be streamed on TLU+. Saturday will also act as Senior Night as the Bulldogs honor their three seniors: Easton Allen (New Braunfels/Marion), Nell Horton (Detroit, MI/East English Village Prep), and Xavier Phillips (Austin/Dripping Springs).
