HOUSTON – The 24th-ranked Trinity University women's golf team cruised to victory at the Space City Classic on Tuesday, with
Jessica Mason (Westminster, Colo. / Holy Family) also winning the individual medalist honors as well.
The Tigers finished with a two-day score of 610 (303-307) and finished 22 shots ahead of second-place University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (TX) and its score of 632 (311-321). Southwestern University (TX) was third with a total of 648 (323-325), followed by LeTourneau University (TX) in fourth (658). The University of St. Thomas (TX) was fifth (663), Hardin-Simmons University (TX) finished sixth (679), the University of Dallas (TX) was seventh (687), and Schreiner University (TX) was eighth (737).
Mason shot a one-under score of 141 (72-69) for the tournament, carding six birdies in today's final round to shoot the only under-par round of the event. She birdied three of the last four holes on the back nine after starting at the par-4 11th and then had three more birdies to shoot 33 (three-under) on the front nine holes of the course.
Carmen Kennett (Missouri City, Texas / Ridge Point) and
Kate Schulle (Cedar Park, Texas / Cedar Park) both shot 156 to tie for fourth in the tournament with one additional player. Kennett shot 77-79 over the two-day event, while Schulle shot 76-80 in her two rounds of play.
Alejandra Sanchez De la Fuente Molino (Marbella, Spain / Atalaya) finished one shot back of her two teammates with a score of 157 (78-79) that landed her in seventh place. Playing as an individual,
Lauren Huddleston (Anthem, Ariz. / Boulder Creek) shot 161 (83-78) to claim eighth place and give the Tigers five individuals finishing in the top 10 at the tournament.

Trinity will return to action on Saturday and Sunday, March 8-9, at the Westbrook Invitational in Phoenix, Ariz. The event is hosted by George Fox University (OR) and will be held at the Westbrook Golf Club.
