
Men's Tennis Stings Yellow Jackets, 6-1, in Season Opener
BROWNWOOD, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran men's tennis team opened its 2025 campaign with a resounding 6-1 win over Howard Payne Saturday afternoon in Brownwood. This is the first time since the 2020 season TLU has won their season opener.
TLU clinched the doubles point by winning on courts two and three after dropping the match on court number one. The team of Revel Wicks (Portland/Gregory-Portland) and Logan Randall (Idalou/Idalou) won their match 6-3 while the team of JT Figueroa (New Braunfels/John Paul II) and Kadon Sullins (Kyle/Lehman) won in a decisive 6-1 fashion.
The Bulldogs would win five of six single matches on Saturday. Freshman Revel Wicks would earn his first official collegiate win, 6-1, 6-1. In the top flight, Cash Herrera (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) won a competitive 7-5, 7-6 match.
Logan Randall, Kadon Sullins, and JT Figueroa would also earn their first wins of the 2025 season in straight sets.
Up next, Texas Lutheran opens SCAC conference play as they travel to Georgetown to face the 36th-ranked Southwestern University Pirates on Saturday, Feb. 8. First serve is set for 1 PM.
