Sophomore
Will Shuflit finished fifth individually at the NCAA West Regional Cross Country Meet, leading Colorado College to a fifth-place team finish, and automatically qualified for next weekend's NCAA Division III National Championships.
Shuflit, who won the SCAC Championship Meet two weeks ago, broke his own school record Saturday with an 8K time of 24:15.7. He will compete next Saturday, Nov. 23, at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course in Terre Haute, Ind.
"Will has had an outstanding sophomore season," head coach
Alex Nichols said. "During the regular season he has been competing with some of the top runners and Division III. Now that he has qualified for the national championship, I'm looking forward to seeing him make a strong push for his first All-American medal."

Axel Klomparens finished in 17
th place with a time of 24:37.7 to earn all-region honors, as did freshman

Sophomore
Huck Whittemore closed out the scoring with a 58
th-place finish. Freshman
Diego Escalante and
Luc Santos rounded out the Tigers' lineup by placing 60
th and 75
th, respectively.
The winning team from each of the 10 regions automatically qualifies for the NCAA Division III National Championship, while 22 other teams from around the country will be selected as at-large bids. In addition, the top seven individuals that are not on teams selected also advance to the national meet. The team and individual selections to the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship will be announced on Sunday, Nov. 17.
Pomona-Pitzer took the team title with 42 points, followed by Claremont Mudd-Scripps (101, George Fox (127), UC Santa Cruz (132) and Colorado College (138).
The NCAA Division III National Championship is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 23, in Terre Haute, Ind.
