
Jackets Open the Season with Sweep of Centre
DANVILLE, Ky. – The Defiance College softball team got their 2010 season off to go a good start by sweeping Centre College, 2-0, in their season opener in Danville, Ky., on Friday night. The Jackets won 6-3 in game one before knocking off the Colonels, 9-7, in the nightcap.

The double header was their first stop of a 10-game road trip that will resume on Sunday with games against Marietta College and Waynesburg College at the annual Rebel Spring Games in Orlando, Fl.
Kelly Schnipke picked up her first win of the season in the Yellow Jackets first match, holding the Colonels to just three runs in the opening contest. Aarika Davis got her senior season off to a great start by smashing two home runs to break the game open. Shauna Bowers picked up the victory in the second game, before Brittany Gow came in to finish the job. Gow also contributed offensively, belting a game-winning home run to secure the sweep.
The Jackets will resume action on Sunday, March 7, when they arrive in Orlando Florida to play in the annual Rebel Spring Games. DC will square off against Marietta College at 1:00 p.m., before facing Waynesburg College at 5:00 p.m.
