BOSSIER CITY, La. – McMurry placed third in the women's race and fifth in the men's at its first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday.
"It wasn't our best day on either side," said McMurry head coach
Corey Koch. "The women fought to the finish despite not doing their best. Third was the goal, and they made it happen. It was not the case for the men; they struggled. However, it's just one race, and we will regroup and figure it out."
The War Hawk women were third with 103 points. Colorado College won with a perfect score of 15 and Trinity was second at 63 in the 10-team race.
Chloe McLellan was 15
th at 23:33.03 with
Savanna Danner just off that pace in 16
th at 13:41.35.
Katelyn Hernandez placed 34
th at 24:54.97 and
Ashley Shea was 35
th at 24:59.48.
Anna Dinaso rounded out the scoring in 54
th at 26:02.91 on the six-kilometer course.
Jocelyn Moreno was 57

Abigail Huffhines placed 63

Madison Soultanova finished in 28:15.94.
The McMurry men were fifth at 139. Colorado College won the 10-team race with 24 points.
Isaac Gonzales led the War Hawks in 28

Patrick Esparza was close behind at 27:32.6 in 40
