DeSOTO, Texas – Trinity's 15th-ranked women's golf team finished second at the Texas Cup after Tuesday's final round of action at the Thorntree Country Club.
The Tigers shot a team score of 309 today, finishing seven shots back of hosting University of Texas-Dallas in first place. Trinity was eight shots clear of University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in third place, followed by the University of Houston-Victoria in fourth, and the University of Dallas in fifth.
Jessica Mason (Westminster, Colo. / Holy Family) won medalist honors as the top individual finisher in the tournament, shooting a two-day total of 148 (71-77) to win by one shot. It marks Mason's first individual win as a Tiger, joining Trinity's team for the Spring 2024 semester. Mason led the tournament with 26 pars out of 36 holes, adding three birdies, and earning a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
Kiona Hsiu (Missouri City, Texas / Elkins) was just two shots back of her teammate with a score of 150 (75-75) to tie with three other players for third place. Hsiu tied for second in the field with five birdies over the past two days and also tied for the tournament lead in Par 5 scoring for the week. Hsiu joined her teammate on the All-Tournament team.
Erin Flynn (League City, Texas / Clear Falls) was the only Trinity player to lower her score in today's round, finishing with a 156 overall, and following yesterday's 79 with a round of 77 on Tuesday. Flynn finished in a tie for seventh place individually.
Lauren Huddleston (Anthem, Ariz. / Boulder Creek) tied for 15th after shooting 80 in both rounds this week, while
Kate Schulle (Cedar Park, Texas / Cedar Park) finished just outside the top 25 after shooting 170 (83-87) for the tournament.
