Will Shuflit led the Colorado College men's cross country team on Saturday with a school-record performance at the Augustana Invitational in Rock Island, Ill.
Shuflit finished the 8K race in 24 minutes, 18.1 seconds, surpassing the previous school record of 24:20, set by 2024 graduate
James Settles at last year's Augustana Invite.
The Tigers finished in 15
th-place in the team standings. No. 2-ranked Wartburg won the team title with 41 points, followed by No. 5 North Central with 144 and No. 4 Wisconsin-Whitewater with 160.
Freshman
Vincent Mangat placed 76
th with a time of 25:34.7, followed by junior
Axel Klomparens in 112
th with a time of 25:54.0.
Junior
Rabbit Barnes finished 127th with a time of 26:05.8 and sophomore
Parker Libby rounded out the scoring for CC in 155
th place in 26:17.7.
"This result wasn't quite what we were hoping for, but it still indicates that we are right on the bubble of a national championship selection," head coach
Alex Nichols said. "Will's school record was a huge highlight, and when we have everyone racing at 100 percent, I think this team can surprise people at the conference and regional championships."
The Tigers return to action at the SCAC Championship Meet on Saturday, Nov. 2 in Shreveport, La.
