MARSHALL, Texas- After claiming the Collegiate Conference of the South Championship last week, Huntingdon Baseball hit the road in their first NCAA Regional Tournament appearance since the CCS was founded, entering as the #4 seed and taking on the #1 seeded Trinity Tigers at East Texas Baptist University.
The Hawks ultimately were overwhelmed by Trinity's presence at the plate, falling 20-2 to the 37-7 Tigers.
Through the first four innings, the Tigers controlled every aspect of the game as they jumped out to a 7-0 lead. Huntingdon's two runs of the game came in the top frame of the fifth inning off hits from Jabez Sampson and Ty Pruitt, as each of the Hawks drove in runs for Byron McLain and Blayne McDaniel to put the Hawks on the board. Trinity responded in the bottom frame with four runs before tacking on nine more en route to their 20-2 victory.
The Hawks return to action in Marshall tomorrow, May 17th, at 11:00 AM CT against Millsaps as they face elimination.
